Commissioner of GST, Madurai district, S Arokia Raj on Tuesday said that if budding MSME entrepreneurs approach the GST seva kendras in the district, they would help simplify the process of paying tax. He was speaking at the vendor development programme cum industrial exhibition organised by MSME department in association with MADITSSIA on Tuesday.

“The government considers MSMEs as the growth engine of the country and we are always accessible to entrepreneurs who find it difficult to file their tax returns. There are certain technical flaws in implementing GST but it has improved the tax system of the country much better than before,” the GST commissioner said. He also invited all the entrepreneurs to take part in the GST meeting held every month at the GST district office in Madurai.

J Gadde Ravi, joint director of MSME department, development facilitation office, Chennai said that there is a communication gap between MSME and procurement needs of PSUs in India. “Many MSMEs are finding it difficult to register in the government e marketplace (GeM) portal which gives information about the requirements in the PSUs,” he said.

As many as 20 PSUs have put up their shops there.
