Patna: The Bihar Goods and Services Tax (Second Amendment) Bill, 2024, was passed by voice vote in the state assembly on Tuesday. It will now be presented in the Bihar legislative council.
“The passage of this Bill will grant complete exemptions from interest and penalty if the full amount of tax is paid,” deputy CM Samrat Choudhary said.
“GST is a federal tax system. After any amendments are made to the Central GST Act, it is necessary to amend the Bihar GST Act at the state level as well. In light of the amendments made to the Central GST Act, changes were made to the Bihar GST Act through an ordinance. To legislate these amendments, the draft of the Bihar Goods and Services Tax (Second Amendment) Bill, 2024, was prepared,” Choudhary said.
