Q. 541 Our Company imports goods from various countries and pays IGST while clearing the goods. The IGST paid is taken as credit while filing our monthly return. However, the IGST paid, which is clearly reflected in ICEGATE portal, is not getting populated in GST Portal and thereby causing mismatch of ITC in case of import of goods when GSTR 3B is compared with GSTR 2B. I have received notice from department for excess availment of ITC. I have explained to the department that matching is not required for Import of Goods. Matching is applicable only for B2B transaction. But the department is not agreeing to the argument. Kindly assist whether matching is required in case of import of goods and help me with the section/rule no. Thank you.

Ans. Yes, matching is not required.
