Against the proposed GST hike by the Central Government from January 1, 2022, around 90 traders and industrialists from Ludhiana have left for Delhi to gherao the Prime Minister’s residence tomorrow.

Tarun Jain Bawa from the Bahadurke Textile Association, here, said around 90 traders and industrialists would gather at Gurdwara Rakibganj in Delhi tomorrow at 11 am.

“We are going to be affected badly if the government hikes GST from 5 per cent to 12 per cent. We are going to camp in Delhi till the issue is resolved,” Bawa said.

Industrialists dealing in textiles said they would be finished if GST was hiked to 12 per cent.

“Bangladesh will not let us survive because ever since a treaty was signed even China is sending its stocks through Bangladesh. Our businesses will be ruined because ours will be expensive products as compared to Bangladesh. The government needs to think about the future of its own industry in the country,” said another industrialist.
