Jaipur: Opposing the GST tax slab suggested by the group of ministers on readymade garments, the Garment Exporters Association of Rajasthan (GEAR) submitted a memorandum to ACS (finance) Akhil Arora. The delegation, headed by GEAR president Rakshit Poddar, said the proposed tax slabs ranging from 5-28% will cripple the industry that is already facing stiff competition from countries like Bangladesh, Vietnam, and others. The Cabinet group, headed by Bihar deputy chief minister Samrat Chaudhary, proposed to levy 5% GST on readymade garments priced up to Rs 1500, 18% on items costing between Rs 1,500 and Rs 10,000, and 28% above Rs. 10000.
