Tamil Nadu Chamber of Commerce and Industry urged the finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman to remove the 28% GST slab and bring petroleum fuel under the GST regime. The chamber’s president N Jegadeesan attended the pre-budget meeting in New Delhi on Tuesday and submitted the memorandum to the finance minister.
The trade body pointed out that the 28% GST slab is too steep and not present in any other country. It has induced tax evasion and driven away honest traders. The trade body appealed to the ministry to bring the petroleum fuel under the GST regime.
