To check fake registrations regarding GST, a special two-month long campaign will be conducted by the Excise and Taxation Department of UT Administration from May to July.

If any bogus registration, billing and companies case comes to the fore during this period, strict action will be taken by the department.

“The department has made it clear that it is mandatory for shopkeepers and all other types of companies to put up boards with GST numbers outside their premises. Department official will check markets, industrial areas and other business premises,” said a department official.

The department is carrying out the drive on the instructions of the Centre. “Officers will be specially deputed for the drive for better coordination and focus will be on appropriate action. Official records will be verified by physical inspection,” said a source.
